Event Information
The Penguins Pool2Park Swim-Run event is hosted by Team XTR will take place on on:

Sunday 31 January 2021 - Pool2Park - Arena Joondalup

The Penguins Pool2Park offers short fast course racing in the traditional Swim-Run format but providing an event that is suitable for all age groups including both kids, junior and novices distances. While this is a Team XTR hosted club event, other TA/TriWA registered club members can enter. If you are new to the sport and are not a member you will be required to purchase a Triathlon Australia one-day-licence (ODL) for insurance purposes.

In the multisports industry the Run-Swim-Run format is often referred to as an Aquathlon which can vary in sequence and distance. These events offer a variety of formats, short fast racing and with an emphasis of lots of fun!!

The event consists of two legs - a Swim and a Run directly after.

The swim leg is within the Arena Joondalup 50m pool.

The run leg is on the grass and path finishing on the athletic oval.

Start: Indoor 50m Pool, Arena Joondalup. Entry is via the main reception

Transition: Is on the grass area in front of the pool (Southern side glass doors)

Finish - Western Oval (Athletic track) - next to Registration area
Note: Your pool entry is included in the race entry but you must obtain a starters Id band at registration first.

Race Distances
Tin Lids – 100m Swim / 1km Run

Junior 7 to 11 years
Short – 200m Swim / 2km Run

Junior 12 to 13 years

Novice - suitable for all beginner and novice athletes 12 years and older
Sprint – 400m Swim / 4km Run

Junior 14 to 19 years - suitable for all junior and junior elite athletes 14 -19 years

Open/Senior - Individual
Course Format​
For all races the format will be:
-
Swim - 100m (2 x laps), 200m (4 x laps), 400m, (8 x laps)
-
Run - 1 x out loop to oval then laps of the oval - 1km (2 x laps), 2km (4 x laps), 4km (9 x laps)
Course Terrain
Swim - All swim legs are within the Indoor 50m Pool,
Run - The run legs are all along the grass and path to the Athletic track and then around th egrass oval.
Note - It is compulsory to wear footwear during the run leg as well as have covered torso after the swim. You are able to puton a top after the swim.
Transition
Is on the grass area in front of the pool (Southern side glass doors) A designated transition area is provided on the run-out lap to put on shoes and a top. You can retrieve these from the grass area after you run completion.

Registration Pickup

All athletes must 'check-in' at the registration desk on race morning.
-
Number allocations and race number body marking will take place race morning.

Swim Caps are 'bring-your-own' and are mandatory. If you need a cap or forgot yours the organisers will have some high quality silicone caps available for $5 during check-in on race morning.
Also ensure that both your arms marked with your race number on race morning. This will be available during registration 'check-in' on race morning.

Bag Drop
A formal bag drop area is not available on race day, however entrants can leave their bag at the registration/recovery area at the finish where race volunteers will be located. Please note that is not controlled so competitors leave their bag at their own risk.
Race Briefing
Race briefings will be held at 8am for all races near the transition outside the pool.

Wave Categories
Approximate wave divisions and and start times are listed below and subject to change based on entry numbers. Athletes will be started one at a time every 20-30 secs.

Presentations
All presentations will take place at approximately 9:00am onwards at the finish area. The presentations times are subject to change and will start earlier if ahead of schedule.
Race Divisions
Participants will participate in one of the following categories:

Kids - 7-11 Yrs

All - 12-15, 16-19 Yrs, 20-24 yrs, 25-29 Yrs. . . . . 65-69, 70+
Note:

Age is calculated in align to TA policy as at 31st of December 2020.

No seperate Open Category awards are available.
Prizes
While this event is all about participation and fun, the sponsors will provide the following prize awards to:

Tin Lids (Kids 7-11Yrs) - 1st Male and female overall - sponsor prize

Short course - 1st Junior Male and female overall - sponsor prize

Long course - 1st Male and female overall - sponsor prize

Note: All place prizes on the day are only valid if you are personally present to receive the award at the prize giving on race day. If you are not present at the race day prize giving the prizes will be made available for award at subsequent events.

Parking
Ample parking is available at Arena. The best ;location would be outside the pool area or below the Western Oval (Athletic track)
